Meet our Staff

Jen loves higher education and the opportunities it creates for students to learn and more importantly grow. From developing programs, talking one on one with students, teaching in the classroom or finding resources for the next new way to better serve students, she believes Texas State walks the talk to remain student-centered. She also enjoys time with her family on road trips, walks along the beaches to pick up shells, and exploring the great outdoors. Her current favorite quote: Keep Calm and Make It Happen.

Dr. Jennifer Beck

After graduating as a first generation college student, Jennifer found her passion in college admission and higher education, where she could use her knowledge to serve diverse families to and through the college process. She is a passionate event planner, a master at jigsaw puzzles, and loves vacation time with her husband and son.

Staci Perez Strauch

Born in Corpus Christi and raised in the small town of Refugio, Staci graduated from Texas A&M with a degree in Environmental Design. Shortly thereafter, she changed career paths and became an academic advisor while completing her M.Ed. in Student Affairs in Higher Education. Now, she loves working at Texas State because of its natural beauty and the local animals she visits on her daily campus walks.

Born and raised locally, Tamara is a proud Texas State alum. She feeds her love for event planning by coordinating events for the parents and families of Texas State students. In her spare time, you can find her hanging out with her family and friends or her weenie dog, Hank.

Terence Parker

Terence is a country boy at heart from Rockdale, TX, who is motivated by the opportunity to serve others. Mentoring is a big part of who he is. He loves working at Texas State because of the students, faculty, staff and alumni. As an alum himself, he loves that even though TXST is large, he still gets that family feel. Outside of work, he likes to walk, watch sports (football and basketball especially), watch movies, and hang out with family and friends.

While Brandi is known for keeping our office in line and on track, she also enjoys turning her music up and jamming out when no one is watching. Her passion for football is possibly surpassed only by her love for Mr. Pibb. Although Brandi spends much of her time outside of work zooming her three kids to one activity or another, she also loves burying herself in a good book and can always offer a recommendation or two!

Amy hails from New England and is always bringing new and creative ideas to our team and is truly invested in Texas State students getting the best experience! When she isn't bringing her creativity to our office, she's crafting her own Pinterest-inspired projects at home and volunteering her creative energies to various events at her children's school.

Emma traded one temperature extreme for the other when she came to Texas State from Buffalo, NY. Now, she enjoys her time outside on the Quad letting students know about campus resources during RMP’s outreach events! When she’s avoiding the Texas heat, you’re most likely to find her eating popcorn in a movie theatre or hanging out with her dog, Norah.

Graduate Assistants

Alex Patlan

G.A. for Bobcat Bond

Born and raised in Corpus Christi, Alex hadn’t moved until he left for college. As a first-generation college student, he was the first in his family to get a bachelor's degree, but not for long! His little brother is right behind him. Alex loves dogs (even though he's allergic), listening to music, and laughing until he cries!

Lauren Loper

G.A. for Brilliant Bobcats & Transfer Initiatives

A water bug at heart, you can find Lauren lounging at the pool or floating in the river at any point of the year. When the weather gets a little too cold or her fingers get a little too pruny, you can find her sipping on coffee or a smoothie at her desk contemplating the meaning of life. In the meantime she thrives in helping students at Texas State discover their true potential and make meaning of what it means to be a Bobcat.

Gabby Riviere

G.A. for Parent & Family Relations

As an only child, Gabby has been figuring out the best practices of communicating with parents since birth. She is always on the go, exploring the great Texas outdoors, planning her next trip, telling stories about those adventures, or eagerly trying to keep her patio garden alive.
