Welcome Bobcats Programs

The Welcome Bobcats System greets new freshmen and transfer students, and inquires if they have initial concerns. The two main objectives of the program are: 1. to welcome new students and let them know we appreciate them choosing Texas State, and 2. to answer questions about academic services, opportunities to get involved with campus programs and student organizations, and adjustment issues.  An email is sent to all new students after the first couple of weeks during their first semester. Students have the oppportunity in the email to respond and ask for help if help is needed.  The Retention Office then returns all requests for help within 48 hours.

The Student Appreciation Program provides transfers, new students and student veterans the opportunity to thank faculty, staff, or administrators for supporting them in various sorts of ways such as acheiving goals, helping them with an issue or problem, or helping with their academic success.  Letters are then sent to those recognized individuals containing the comments from the appreciative students.

Graduating Appreciation Program

Academic Early Alert is a program that identifies students with either attendance or academic performance problems.  All faculty that teach courses that enroll entering freshman are asked to participate in the program.  The web-based reporting system allows faculty to refer those students in need of additional assistance and encouragement.  The goal is to help Texas State students be successful at Texas State.
