Student Resources
When a PAWS Alert referral is submitted for you, please know that the referral is not a punishment. A PAWS Alert referral demonstrates that a Texas State faculty or staff member cares about you and wants to connect you with resources that can help you be successful.
Below is a list of resources to help you cope with challenges throughout the semester. Please know that at anytime during the semester, you are welcome to contact the Retention Management & Planning office for a one-on-one meeting with a staff member.

What kind of assistance is available to me if I get referred to PAWS Alert?
Retention Management and Planning and our campus partners offer a variety of resources that promote student success. The referral that we make will depend on your needs. We encourage you to make an appointment with us by contacting 512-245-5500 or studentsuccess@txstate.edu to get more information if needed.

Does a PAWS Alert referral appear on my permanent record?
No. A PAWS Alert referral will not be reflected on your transcript.

What should I do if I receive an email or phone call regarding a PAWS Alert?
The PAWS Alert program is a way for faculty and staff to refer students who are experiencing academic, personal, or transitional challenges for additional help and support. Please take your PAWS Alert seriously and respond to the staff and/or faculty member who has reached out to you. We are here to help you to succeed.
